Driving for Hospice, a new charity golf tournament to benefit hospice patients in Aitkin, Baxter, Brainerd, Crosby, Crosslake, Deerwood and Emily, will be Thursday, Aug. 30, at Cuyuna Rolling Hills Golf Course in Deerwood.
Hospice provides compassionate care and dignity for terminally ill people and supports their loved ones with comfort when time matters most. Proceeds from the inaugural fundraising event will stay in the community and be used to provide end-of-life care to hospice patients and fund supplies, medications and home equipment.
The 18-hole, best ball scramble with teams of four players begins with a shotgun start at noon. Players will compete for cash and other great prizes. A hole-in-one contest is planned together with other fun activities. Registration begins at 10 a.m. and a putting contest will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. A healthy lunch catered by Heartwood will be served from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. The fee is $100 per golfer which includes green fees, a cart, lunch, appetizers and prizes.
