Cuyuna Regional Medical Center Ambulatory Services Registered Nurse Wanda Barnes of Ironton this week received Cuyuna Regional Medical Center’s Trophy Fish Award for going above and beyond in her job by assisting a patient.
Barnes came to work early when asked by a co-worker if she would be able to access a patient’s implanted port that was very difficult to access. She came to the Surgery Department early and successfully accessed the patient’s port. The patient was pleased.
“Wanda displayed collaboration and dedication to the patient,” her nominator wrote. “Great teamwork!”
A member of CRMC’s staff since 2008, Barnes earned an Associate of Science degree in nursing at Central Lakes College. She also holds a Diploma in Practical Nursing from Brainerd Area Vocational Technical Institute.
