New Podiatrist Joins Orthopaedic Department

CROSBY, Minn. – Stephen C. Schmid, DPM, FACFAS, joined the medical staff at Cuyuna Regional Medical Center (CRMC), in July 2024 as a Podiatrist. He will diagnose and treat people with a range of foot and ankle conditions, from routine checkups to reconstructive surgery. Dr. Schmid will see patients at CRMC’s Crosby and Baxter clinics. Dr. Schmid recently worked at Lake Region Medical Group in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, for eleven years. The Board-Certified Foot and Ankle Surgeon earned his Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine at Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in North Chicago, Illinois, and completed his podiatric medical and surgical residency at Detroit Medical Center. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Iowa and a surgical leadership certificate from Harvard Medical School.

The Podiatrist has lectured nationally and received several awards for his podiatric and leadership experience. He is passionate about his volunteer work with Molo Medical Missions in Molo, Kenya.

Dr. Schmid spent his childhood summers on the Whitefish Chain of Lakes. He and his family are excited to be closer to relatives in Lakes Country.
