Local Urologist Celebrated for Achieving Center of Excellence Designation

CROSBY, Minn. – Cuyuna Regional Medical Center (CRMC), is proud to announce that Board Certified Urologist Brandon Reynolds, MD, has been designated as a UroLift™ System Center of Excellence physician. Dr. Reynolds is the only urologist north of the Twin Cities with this unique distinction. This designation is awarded to physicians who have attained advanced training with the UroLift™ System. This minimally invasive procedure offers quick relief and recovery for Benign Prostate Hyperplasia (BPH) symptoms, which commonly cause men to experience frequent and urgent urination.

“Center of Excellence designation is a reassurance to our patients that we perform a lot of procedures,” said Dr. Reynolds. “We are one of the top-tier facilities in the nation where they’ll get the best outcome for their procedure.”

CRMC’s Urology department specializes in treating disorders of the genito-urinary tract, encompassing the kidneys, ureters, urinary bladder, urethra, and male reproductive organs. The team understands the importance of tailoring treatment plans to meet each patient’s unique needs effectively. Comprehensive and cutting-edge care is available for both male and female urinary tract conditions and reproductive issues, including robotic-assisted surgery using the da Vinci Xi® robot when appropriate.

Dr. Reynolds began practicing at CRMC in July 2020. This is not his first recognition; last year, he was designated as a Medtronic InterStim™ Center of Excellence physician. InterStim™ is a minimally invasive procedure for treating overactive bladder.

“We are one of three places in the state of Minnesota that offers this minimally invasive procedure. Very few people can do the procedure, or perform it as well as we do,” explained Dr. Reynolds. “InterStim™ targets a population that is massively underserved, many people are dealing with problems related to an overactive bladder.”

In the United States, it is estimated that 40% of men in their 50s and 70% of men in their 60s experience a frequent and urgent need to urinate due to an enlarged prostate. According to the Urology Foundation, one in three women aged 35 and above experience urinary leakage.
