CRMC to Present on Unique Hand Therapy Treatment at National Conference

CROSBY, Minn. – Cuyuna Regional Medical Center (CRMC) proudly announces that Rose Bankers, OTR, L CHT, will present at the American Society of Hand Therapists Annual Meeting in St. Louis, MO. This is the first time someone from CRMC or regionally has presented at the four-day conference, which shines a spotlight on innovations in hand therapy. CRMC is one of 47 presenters from across the nation, making it a significant achievement.

Bankers’ presentation will focus on “prehab,” a specialized therapy offered by CRMC’s hand care team, led by surgeon Susan Moen, MD. This therapy is designed for patients preparing for thumb arthritis surgery, providing personalized education before surgery to help them actively participate in their recovery. Patients learn how surgery may affect daily activities and how CRMC’s hand therapy team can support them during recovery, from simple tasks like cooking and shaving, to walking the dog. Prehab has been used for knee and hip joint replacement surgeries; Dr. Moen saw an opportunity to utilize the method to enhance the care of her hand patient surgeries.

CRMC’s Orthopaedic Hand and Wrist Care specialists provide comprehensive care from elbows to fingertips. They understand that your hands play a vital role in your daily life, from intricate tasks like threading a needle to everyday actions like throwing a ball or embracing loved ones. The team of specialists offers a range of treatments from medications and splints to therapy and injections, depending on the severity of the patient’s condition. Whether or not a concern requires surgical intervention, CRMC has effective alternatives to address all hand-related concerns. Call 218-545-4475 to request a consultation and explore solutions together.
