Cuyuna Regional Medical Center Pharmacist Ryan Langem of Crosby on April 18 received the organization’s Trophy Fish Award for going above and beyond in his job duties.
Recently, a patient was admitted who needed a very specific anti-epileptic (anti-seizure) medication that CRMC did not stock and there was not a good substitute. This was in the late evening and clinicians were running out of options. Langem drove to Brainerd to pick up the medication from somewhere that was willing to get it for CRMC, then drove back to Crosby so that patient could get it, all after his shift ended. “I was absolutely floored by his dedication and the fact that he didn’t think twice about it,” wrote his nominator Dr. Laura Fier, a hospitalist.
