A total of 41 people lost weight and lowered their blood pressure after attending Living Well, a six-week health improvement class offered this Fall by Cuyuna Regional Medical Center and Hallett Community Center.
Each person lost an average of 4.45 pounds. Their average finishing blood pressures were 134/80 compared to 141/81 when they started.
The class covered preparing healthy meals; exercises to do while cooking; reading labels, portion control and movement during meal preparation; physical activity; and mindfulness. Those completing five out of the six classes received T-shirts and water bottles.
Another series of free classes will begin in February at Heartwood Senior Living Community in Crosby. Visit cuyunamed.org or like Cuyuna Regional Medical Center on Facebook for registration details.
